What you can pack in your carry-on

Carry-on baggage rules vary between airlines and even between fares.

What to check

• The permitted weight and dimensions, shown on your ticket or the airline’s website.
• Whether you can bring a small personal item as well.
• The rules on liquids and items prohibited at the airport.

If your bag exceeds the limit

At the gate, you may be charged a fee or asked to check the bag into the hold. It’s easier to add checked baggage when you book your ticket.
